Asbestos: The Silent Killer

This short video called The Silent Killer was shared by the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance in April 2012. The film focuses on the dangers of asbestos and how hazardous it can be to human health. And chillingly, how the substance is still used in products to this day.

Find out more about the dangers of asbestos and the health problems it can cause.

Asbestos fibers are 700 times smaller than a human hair but responsible for over 90,000 death each year. The film explains that most asbestos-related diseases will not start presenting symptoms until between 25 and 50 years after exposure, which means that we have many more years to come of treating people with mesothelioma.

A review found that asbestos exposure at any level increases the risk of peritoneal mesothelioma.
