Immunotherapy is a treatment used for cancer patients where the immune system is strengthened in order to better fight the cancer cells. In this video from OncLiveTV, Professor of Cancer Research Dr. Luciano Mutti from the University of Salford in Manchester talks about predicting mesothelioma patients’ response to immunotherapy.
Dr. Mutti explains that it is difficult to predict how mesothelioma patients will respond to immunotherapy as there needs to be more research conducted in this field. He says that while immunotherapy has shown success in other cancers such as lung cancer and melanoma, there hasn’t yet been enough clinical trials to establish whether immunotherapy is a viable treatment for mesothelioma.
