Mesothelioma is a severe cancer caused primarily by exposure to asbestos. The lining of the lungs and chest wall are the most common areas affected, but the stomach, heart, and testes may also be affected.
In this OncLive video, Dr. Thierry Jahan talks about a small study of patients who have undergone a pioneering new treatment – combining live bacterium with chemotherapy treatment. The treatment yielded a 60 percent response rate, compared to the 25 percent response rate from chemotherapy alone.
