In this TedEd video shared in November 2014, watch Emma Bryce’s informative lesson about how our lungs work.
Breathing occurs 15-25 times a minute and the average person will inhale 10,000 liters of air each day. Sound simple? It isn’t. The actual act of breathing is incredibly complex and requires the brain, lungs, heart, and diaphragm to work in harmony in order to deliver oxygen-rich blood to our entire body.
All of this happens without most of us even thinking about it — unless we struggle with a lung disease that makes breathing difficult, such as mesothelioma.
