Mesothelioma: Heather’s Story of Survival

In this positive and heartwarming video from the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance shared in May 2013, we meet Heather Von St. James. Heather is a mesothelioma survivor who contracted the disease after being exposed to asbestos as a child. Her father worked in the construction industry and asbestos traveled home on his clothing.

Heather and her husband Cameron decided that after seven years of marriage they would try for a baby. However, as soon as their daughter Lily was born, Heather started to feel very unwell and was rapidly losing weight. Just three months after giving birth to their daughter, Heather was diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma at 36 years old.
