Psychological Symptoms Differ Between Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma

A recent report has found that patients who have mesothelioma may need different psychological care than patients who have severe lung cancer.

Find out about four experimental treatments for mesothelioma.

While the two diseases share many commonalities in terms of distress and anxiety, it’s believed that each has unique factors: for example, some mesothelioma patients were frustrated with the number of legal forms they needed to fill out to apply for compensation. This also caused some patients to feel betrayed or angry with former employers because of the asbestos exposure they endured.

Mesothelioma patients also had slightly different frustrations when it came to their healthcare with many complaining about a lack of communication concerning treatment options, whereas lung cancer patients were more likely to have experienced poor attitudes towards them from healthcare professionals.
